I Am A Woman Stereotyped

I am covered as marble
White liquid forming steel
Around my body it tightens
Clinging to every curve of fragile form

I am a woman
Silenced by the stone
Colorless without label
Invisible is my home

I am a woman
Statue they whisper
As the goddesses of old
More beautiful than Aphrodite, a work of art

I am a woman
Choked by the brick
Waters melted thick
Pouring down my throat

Take my place they shout defiling me so
Be what I am...
What they "think" I should be

Beautiful
Lifeless
Obedient
Silent

I am a woman... Stereotyped
A poem I wrote that was inspired from a dream I had and I feel many women are seen this way. It's very personal and I enjoyed writing my heart. Enjoy
